Senior Year Timeline

Use this timeline to guide you through the college application process. Not everything listed below is required of ALL students, but the majority of this information will be helpful to you.

September
  • Register for the October SAT and/or the October ACT

  • Decide whether or not to take honors courses

  • Register for and attend Senior College Night (Tuesday, October 1st @ 5:30 PM)

  • Complete the College Advising Survey and schedule a meeting with Rah-Ben and Michelle

  • Log in to SCOIR to create/update your list of colleges

  • Begin brainstorming your personal statements repsonses

November
  • Register for the December SAT

  • Complete and submit your CSU, UC, and Common Applications (the deadline for CSUs and UCs is 11/30)

  • Schedule a meeting with Rah-Ben and Michelle

  • Log in to SCOIR to update your list of colleges

January
  • Check your email every day to stay updated on the status of your college applications

  • Check your college application web portals once a week (be sure each college has your official SAT/ACT scores and transcript/letters of recommendation if necessary)

  • Log in to SCOIR to update your list of colleges

March
  • Check your email every day to stay updated on the status of your college applications

  • Check your college application web portals once a week

  • Log in to SCOIR to update your college decisions (accepted, denied, etc)

  • Submit your FAFSA for the 2017-2018 school year by March 2nd, 2018

May
  • Submit your Student Intent to Register (SIR), enrollment deposit, and housing deposit by May 1st!

  • Check your email every day to stay updated on the college process

  • Log in to SCOIR to update your college of attendance

  • Finish strong in your classes! Be sure to earn As and Bs

October
  • Register for the November SAT and/or the December ACT

  • Create your accounts for the CSU, UC, and Common Applications

  • Schedule a meeting with Rah-Ben and Michelle

  • Log in to SCOIR to create/update your list of colleges

  • Revise your personal statements and have them reviewed by a teacher or advisor

  • Request letters of recommendation for your applications to private colleges and universities

  • Begin your FAFSA for the 2017-2018 school year (Be sure to create an FSA ID for you AND your parent) 

December
  • Check your email every day to stay updated on the status of your college applications

  • Send your official SAT and ACT scores to your colleges

  • Log in to SCOIR to update your list of colleges

  • Create your college application web portals to check the status of your applications

February
  • Check your email every day to stay updated on the status of your college applications

  • Check your college application web portals once a week

  • Submit your social security number for Cal Grant Eligibility through this secure form

April
  • Check your email every day to stay updated on the status of your college applications

  • Check your college application web portals once a week

  • Compare the financial aid offers from each of the colleges you've been accepted to

  • Plan a visit to the colleges you are considering attending

  • Be prepared to make your college decision by the May 1st deadline

June
  • Check your email every day for any updates from your future college of attendance

  • Finish strong in your classes! Be sure to earn As and Bs

  • Graduation day is Thursday, June 21st at 4:00 PM

  • Log in to SCOIR to update your college of attendance (so we can send your final transcript)
